Our Mission: Collective Ownership for a Multicultural Community of Belonging

The Hometown Project was founded to redefine holistic, place-based urban development through collective ownership and economic solidarity. We envision an affordable, healthy, and vibrant West and Southwest Philadelphia where all people belong.

Mission

Our mission is to create opportunities for collective ownership of real estate and economic solidarity by organizing neighbors, stakeholders and resources.

Vision

We envision an affordable, multicultural, and vibrant West and Southwest Philadelphia where all people truly belong. This is a future of true economic solidarity across lines of difference, which is only possible when we get land out of the extractive market and into community-control. In this way, the benefits of rising property values can accrue to the most vulnerable households, also preserving the unique progressive character of West and Southwest Philly. neighborhoods.
