Keep West & Southwest Philly neighborhoods vibrant and affordable — for good.

The Hometown Project mobilizes neighbors for economic solidarity and community-controlled land. We're out to stop displacement and keep the benefits of rising property values close to home.

West and Southwest Philly: The time is now to stand up for our neighborhoods.

All over West and Southwest Philly, long time neighbors have built vibrant, diverse, and affordable communities under difficult circumstances. Now the fruits of their labor are being taken away. Rising prices and property taxes are pushing longtime neighbors out and threatening our community's progressive character. What's worse is that there's no coordinated response. We have a small window to act. It's time to create economic solidarity through community-controlled land!

Our Approach

Educate

We help neighbors and stakeholders gain a clear vision of community-controlled real estate and what it takes to make it happen.

Organize

We identify and mobilize stakeholders for a group discernment process, aligning individual interests with community needs.

Resource

We connect the community to the financial, political and technical resources to support collective ownership.

ACTION ALERT: Save the Neighborhood Restorations homes

Starting in July 2026, 925 affordable homes in the Neighborhood Restorations portfolio in West and Southwest Philly could begin to be sold off — and this is only the beginning of many more like it. Tell Mayor Parker to save the Neighborhood Restorations homes!

Join us.

We're building an advisory board, forming partnerships, and organizing for a community trust. Whether you're a property owner, a potential advisor, or a funder, we'd love to talk.
